NEW HORIZON V40298 update

Steve and Tina Oton are cruising their Valiant 40 and have been kind enough to let us in on their sojourn.

1998 info: New Horizon left Israel last June, stopped in Cyprus for a month, then went on to the southern coast of Turkey. They spent most of last summer cruising the Mediterranean and Aegean coasts of Turkey, except for one month in the Dodecanese Islands of Greece. The winter was spent in Kusadasi, Turkey then they cruised up the coast of Istanbul. Recently they began a quick tour of the Black Sea. From their they will head back to Greece, then on to the Adriatic (Croatia and Italy) in September 98. Steve and Tina hope to be in Venice for their 25th wedding anniversary, then winter in Malta (or possibly Italy). We hope to hear more updates as they continue they journey.

1997 letter: ANOTHER HORIZON's log has now passed the 25,000 mile mark. Sailors Steve Salmon and Tina Oton left Thailand in January of 1997 to travel to several middle eastern countries. They would have preferred to linger but their schedule was dictated by a narrow weather window for crossing the Indian Ocean and the Red Sea. Their first passage from Thailand was to Sri Lanka. With the wind as their back (15kts) it took just over 7 days to make approximately 1100 miles. From Sri Lanka they traveled to India's southwestern coast. Some time was spent sightseeing in this country. From here it was on to Oman, Yemen, Eritrea, the Sudan, Egypt, and Israel. Steve and Tina stated that they were going to leave Another Horizon in Israel, while they made a return visit to the USA for the marriage of Stephen's son Thomas and the graduation of their daughter Holly. From Israel they were scheduled to go on to Turkey....
