AQUAVITAE (V50101) Destroyed in Fire

It is with great remorse that this article is about the loss of hull no. 1 of the Valiant 50 series. AQUAVITAE was lost in a fire during a period when no one was aboard. The fire was apparently smoldering for days. It was discovered by a neighboring slip owner, who sounded the alarm. The boat caught on fire in January and was insured. The insurance company totaled the boat and reimbursement was made by February. Owners Anne Marie and Ulrich Hansen were quite satisfied with the service they received from their insurance company.

Apparently the fire started behind the SSB or Radar unit, which were built in next to the Nav Station. What caused the fire, still no one knows. The Hansens' now have V50103, which they have named JUBILAEUM. Jubilaeum will be taken to the Annapolis Boat Show in October 1998 and then sailed to the Islands for the winter. In May 99 the Hansens' will take her across to Scandinavia for the summer and winter over the Med. You may ask, how does Ulrich find the time. Well, in the March 1998, Ulrich is lucky enough to retire at the ripe old age of 51. A larger version of the picture is available.
